My heart melts when I see a new super market opening. I love the smell, sights, touch of these new markets. I had never heard of Lazy Acres Market. I didn’t know if it was a chain or perhaps a pricey organic kinda place (hello Whole Foods). So I was surprised to discover Lazy Acres Market is a sister market to Bristol Farms. My love of Bristol has diminished over the years but I’m a fan of their beer selection as well as their famous chocolate chip cookies. So I was excited to stop by Lazy Acres Market and check them out.
I honestly should have separated out these topics into multiple posts but hey, I’m tired and it’s hot as all frekkkkk today. I can’t even cuss right because I’m that miserable from the heat.
I haven’t been going to H Mart as often. It’s still a cool market (actually they have A/C…crap, maybe I should have done lunch there today) – I think I meant ‘cool’ as a complimentary adjective and not as a temperature adjective. But wanted to share a few things I’ve purchased (or seen recently):
I don’t know how anyone survived before 99 Ranch came to San Diego. It was a cool place to go b/c 1) so much Asian grocery inventory; 2) Sam Woo and 168 restaurant ; and 3) I never got tired of finding new things to ewwww and ahhhh at. But over the years, I stopped going as often. 99 Ranch lost that ‘appeal’ to me.
They’ve recently remodeled. Not sure exactly what they did except move things around a bit. It still doesn’t look as nice as the new H Mart in Mira Mesa. Continue reading 99 Ranch (Peculiar Findings) – San Diego, CA
Anyone who grew up going to the Promenade (I still think of 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica for some reason) in Flower Hill (Del Mar) will be shocked when they visit the new Whole Foods.
It used to be a movie theatre. An old, run down theatre. I remember going there to watch a movie and then jetting over the Pappachino’s next door for pizza.
They tore down and literally re-gutted everything in that section of the mall. I went last night for Whole Foods grand opening and they had about 10 parking guys directing traffic. I was worried thinking I’d never find parking in this tiny strip mall but wow, they guide you to the back of WF, and lo and behold, there’s a four(?) story parking structure…WTFAYFKM (I had never seen this before and it took me forever to figure out what it stood for but slapped my forehead when I finally got it) Continue reading Whole Foods – Del Mar, CA – Grand Opening – 2/27/2013
