Rock N’ Jenny’s Italian Subs – Escondido, CA

How many sandwiches have I had over a lifetime. Quite a bit I’d like to think. My love of sandwiches has grown over the years as I punish myself over freshly baked bread while counting carbs. We were in Escondido over the weekend and wanted to find a quick/cheap sandwich place to try out before we headed to a local brewery. I knew Rock N’ Jenny’s Italian Subs was nearby so we decided to try out this sandwich shop.

I didn’t think I’d enjoy the sandwich shop but the sandwich I had here at Rock N’ Jenny’s Italian Subs was one of the best things I’ve eaten all year.

Hacienda de Vega – Escondido, CA

Hacienda de Vega is located in Escondido. I had heard about this Mexican restaurant from a friend who enjoys the margaritas here. It was a blistering hot day and there’s no indoor seating at Hacienda de Vega. Friend said it’s no biggie as the outdoor patio seating had a nice breeze and I’d be fine. I was skeptical but figured it was worth a shot.

Roma Market – Escondido, CA

What does a girl do when she’s having a bad day with not much of an appetite. She goes to an Italian market to use a gift certificate she previously bought for someone else. Then she orders like a cray cray with the facade of ‘oh yes I’m bringing this *second* sandwich back to my co worker’. I was totally going to eat that second sandwich myself. Healthy right. I’ve seen Roma Market on social media and I’ve also seen this Italian market when we drive to Valley View Casino (I know, what a horrible sentence). I’ve been curious about Roma Market as I knew they have an inside deli that makes pizzas, sandwiches, and salads. They even have home made desserts.

Suzy Q’s Diner

My favorite breakfast items are probably doused with either hollandaise sauce or country gravy. I don’t know why. I just, like, really love sauces on almost anything. I’m a creature of habit so finding new breakfast locations to try out has been difficult for some reason. So I was curious when I heard about Suzy Q’s Diner in Escondido as the restaurant offers homemade hollandaise and country gravy on their menu. I rarely venture out to Escondido for a meal but 2016 seems like a new year to make a pact to try a new part of town for at least breakfast.

Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Escondido, CA

Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens

Gosh that’s a long restaurant name ain’t it. Friends and I had time to meet for a long lunch so we decided to meet here at Stone Brewing as they’ve known my non-existent desire to try another brewery. But hey, if there’s a restaurant inside the brewery, then that’s another story. Everyone made it sound like Stone Brewing in Escondido wasn’t THAT far away. Well, it totally *IS* that far away. I think I’m just used to the Ballast Point in Miramar and Scripps Ranch.  Continue reading Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Escondido, CA

The Cheesecake Factory Happy Hour (+ Are you a man or a mouse ramblings) – Escondido, CA

The Cheesecake Factory

I wouldn’t normally do a blog post about The Cheesecake Factory because it’s like, yawn, The Cheesecake Factory. Don’t get me wrong – they have ok food. But the long wait to get a table, the quickly churned out food, etc etc doesn’t seem appealing to even write about.

But a weird ‘return a cheesecake‘ story IS and a helpful ‘hey, did *YOU* know TCF has a Happy Hour?!’ was worth sharing with everyone.

Vintana Wine + Dine – Escondido, CA

When I first heard about Vintana, I shook my head in question wondering ‘whyyyy on EARTH would ANYONE want to open a restaurant INSIDE a car dealership’. It made me question the all-so-powerful Cohn Restaurant conglomerate. I’ve never been a huge fan of their restaurants. Always felt their menus had a lot of hype but when it came to the actual food served…yeah….not so much substance.

Sis and I took car to the dealership the other day to get serviced. She’s been to this dealership in the past and has raved about it. A family friend gave sis and me a few gift cards for any of the Cohn restaurants so she wanted to take the opportunity today to try out Vintana (while car was getting serviced).
