I was curious to see what Trade Winds Tavern was about. I had seen them slowly take over the previous location. I didn’t know much about Trade Winds Tavern except seeing the mural of the girl every time we passed by. I didn’t know if the tavern would be Asian themed in regards to decor, food, and ambiance. We had a chance to visit Trade Winds Tavern recently for a media event.
This has been a nice holiday season. I’m still fighting a cough but other than that I’m feeling quite good. And spirited. I can almost feel the light at the end of the tunnel. Friend and I met up at Miguel’s Cocina a few weeks ago for a leisurely lunch. Miguel’s Cocina has a few locations in San Diego. We visited the one in 4S Ranch as we were both in the area that day. They have both interior and exterior seating.
Hacienda de Vega is located in Escondido. I had heard about this Mexican restaurant from a friend who enjoys the margaritas here. It was a blistering hot day and there’s no indoor seating at Hacienda de Vega. Friend said it’s no biggie as the outdoor patio seating had a nice breeze and I’d be fine. I was skeptical but figured it was worth a shot.
I’m a blessed girl when it comes to my friends and family. Sometimes they just know what I need without me asking for it. I had never been to Rancho Bernardo Inn because I thought it was a lame golf resort where old people hung out (I’d be in that category so don’t hate). Tox surprised me with a staycation at this resort (post to follow) and then my mom surprised me with another staycation here for a present. Yes, they get that when I like something, I *really* like something. Veranda Fireside Lounge & Restaurant is the casual restaurant at Rancho Bernardo Inn. We ate there four times during both visits.
Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse
That’s Ruth’s Chris description of their $7 Happy Hour. I don’t think I’d ever use Sizzle, Swizzle, Swirl in the same sentence. It’s Toxie’s birthday soon so my ode to her will come at the end.
We met up last week because I had a crazy dream and had to share it with someone. She was the first person I emailed/texted in the morning. I was so over Happy Hour b/c 1) I’ve been to every freakin’ place in the area and 2) I was soooo over the yuck HH food.
BUT. I remembered Ruth’s Chris in Del Mar and wondered if they had a nice Happy Hour. It’s in such a weird commercial office area. I went there literally 10+ years ago. We would eat in their bar area (full price menu) and I remember the sun would shine DIRECTLY IN YOUR FACE when you sat at the bar (close to sunset). It wasn’t beautiful or pleasant. It just felt super stuffy and warm in the bar area. BUT, I so so so love their rib eye steaks and their BBQ shrimp. Service, at the bar, was always great ( it was great to see Bubba’s face again after all these years ).
